VA 490 - Professional Practice as a Designer: This course aims to prepare the
students for their careers, by developing the skills and strategies that will enhance
competence, self confidence as well as the requisite adaptability to succeed in the
diverse professional environments within which they are expected to operate. The
course includes portfolio making and presentation of ideas, projects and concepts as
well as enhancing writing skills, which will help the preparation of professional as well
as creative briefs and reports, which are all part of the requirements of large-scale
design projects. The approach is practice-based. It sets up a system that encourages
students to put into practice various subjects through hands-on assignments.
Furthermore guest lecturers and field trips provide students with the opportunity of
learning from advanced professionals in the design fields.
VA 312 - History of Visual Communication: This course introduces the student to
the historical origins of printing and typography to the postmodern/present day visual
communication design. It aims to provide a conceptual and pictorial overview of
significant stages in visual communication design activities. The designs of key
periods is discussed and investigated with respect to their social and economic
impacts on the society.
VA 210 - Introduction to Multimedia: This introductory class focuses on the design
of communication tools, which link people to their surroundings. The course takes
advantage of the inherent multi-disciplinary nature of multimedia by covering the
basics including; computer hardware and peripherals, file formats, resolution and
color, screen composition, photography, graphic design, concept development,
flowcharting, storyboarding, visualization techniques, presentation formats,
production methods, desktop publishing and the principles of user interface design in
general.

The IDA Congress is the most prestigious global design event organized to engage
the dialogue between designers and non-design stakeholders in a summit format.
The aim of the IDA Congress is to bring together the unified voice of designers
around the world in a themed framework to advance the vision and mission of the
IDA by engaging with government leaders, INGO's, business, science and
technology, education and social sciences.

Conference and Program Organizer of an International Conference with ca. 1350
attendees. This one-week event contained more than 450 paper presentations, over
70 panels, 60 workshops, networking meetings. Within the conference program, art
exhibitions were also held throughout Istanbul, containing artworks of more than 100
international artist. The exhibition was open for three weeks.
